Our course is designed to create confidence and comfort with Language expectations in the junior grades. Based on Ontario curriculum standards and topics, lessons will cover reading, writing and spelling expectations.
Understanding morphology is the key to decoding, comprehension and spelling of words. Students will be introduced to important bases, prefixes and suffixes. By “building” words we will discover how one base can produce so many new words. This helps the students reduce errors when it comes to spelling and reading new words.
Research has shown that when we anchor our learning in curriculum content and not abstract exercises, students have a better understanding of concepts. All learning will be embedded in relevant curriculum topics.
