Writing paragraphs is an important skill that is key to most writing forms. This course is for students who have begun to write paragraphs but still need to learn the skills to organize their thoughts, and elaborate on their ideas.

THE KEYS TO BUILDING, READING AND WRITING "BIG" WORDS
Understanding morphology is the key to decoding, comprehension and spelling of words. Students will be introduced to bases, prefixes and suffixes of Latin and Greek origin. By “building” words we will discover how to correctly spell many words in the English language. This knowledge will help students reduce spelling errors and guessing when it comes to spelling multi-syllabic words.

Writing Non-Fiction Texts
This course is designed for students that find writing a challenge. This course will support writing using topics in Science and Social Studies. We will cover three types of Non-Fiction texts:
Compare and Contrast
Problems and Solutions
Persuasive Writing
Students will read and analyze main features of each text type, identify key words and write examples of each text type using their own topics.
